For future reference: Nell's make-ahead brown-and-serve rolls (recipe in the family cookbook) can be baked at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes with excellent results. We tried this experiment at Thanksgiving and repeated it at Christmas -- the rolls didn't burn on the bottom and they were baked through.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season! Let's see, today we should expect calling birds, French hens, turtle doves, and the infamous partridge in a pear tree. Sounds like a preview for Hitchcock's "The Birds"!

Advent

My church sent around this video...

Now don't get me wrong. I love giving stuff, I love getting stuff, and I love Christmas (especially my stocking!). I'm just saying if you were to call me on Christmas morning and tell me you loved me but you gave my gift to MSF or Heifer or you just couldn't face going to a store ever again and so you stayed home and decorated cookies and watched movies instead, that'd be okay with me, too!

Believe it or not, the “dictator” is a relative of one of my in laws (whom I have met on numerous occasions) and the story is absolutely true.  It started as a forwarded email and ended up on someone's blog fortunately with the names changed. (a cautionary email tale)  Don’t you feel wonderfully normal now???
