This was spectacular - 12 days and only one day of rain! We went out in Zodiac rubber boats to get up close to glaciers, salmon spawning streams, sea birds. Walked around on the terminal moraine of the Bryn Mawr glacier - lots of granite rocks with a number of them having white quartz inclusions. We saw lots of whales, both humpback and fin whales.
Food on the ship was also spectacular - five courses at dinner (if you could stand it), omelets to order at breakfast, lots of salmon and some other fish (notably a crab dinner one night).
We stopped in the small town or Petersburg, Alaska, founded around 1900 by Norwegians and still treasuring their Norwegian heritage. Their high school cheer is
"Lutefisk, lutefisk, lefse, lefse-
We're the Vikings, ja, you betcha!"
